Fire and Ice is a main quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. One of the two blighted dragons has been located and it's time to confront it (which one depends on which city was saved before).

Acquisition[]

Walkthrough[]

The team heads to the Hossberg Wetlands to face the blighted dragon that escaped them before… but the gods have other plans.

Go after the dragon[]

Choose your party, then sit through a cutscene with the Wardens. You will be able to walk talk to your other companions as you walk through the Warden stronghold on the way to the dragon lair.

If you saved Minrathous, you will fight Seartooth Vyrantus, which is resistant to fire and vulnerable to ice. If you saved Treviso, you will fight Corius the Icetalon, which is resistant to ice and vulnerable to fire. Both have the standard dragon attacks of shooting a projectile, leaping forward to crush you, flying into the air to slam down on the ground, and attack with claws and tail at close range. After depleting all its health, Ghilan'nain will heal it and the other dragon will join the fight. They have the same attacks, including a sweeping fire or ice beam.

After about 20% of the total health is depleted, the Shadow Dragons (if you saved Minrathous) or the Crows (if you saved Treviso) will show up with special bolts for the ballista. Requesting them to fire on a dragon will stagger the dragon, exposing the weak point on its belly.

Rewards[]

  • 5,000 XP
  • 100 Antivan Crows Strength
  • 100 Shadow Dragons Strength
  • 250 Lords of Fortune Strength
  • 250 Grey Wardens Strength
  • 600 Gold
  • Increased bond with all companions
  • Weapon: Veilseeker (mage) / Reinforced Longbow (rogue) / Skullcrusher (warrior)

Results[]

When Seartooth Vyrantus, the blighted dragon that escaped the team in Minrathous, attacks the Hossberg Wetlands, they have a chance to finish the dragon off for good. Little do they realize that they aren't the only ones looking for revenge…

The team survived the gods' ambush and slew not one but two blighted dragons. For the Grey Wardens, it is a much-needed bolstering of morale. For the gods, it is an insult they will not soon forget.

Approval[]

For this quest, the choice of companions for the active party has no effect on approvals or bond increases.
