- For the location in Trespasser, see Elven Ruins (Trespasser).
The Elven Ruins are an assemblage of dilapidated underground ruins within the Brecilian Forest with what is perceived to be human architecture[note] yet containing elven artifacts[1]. Statues of the old elven pantheon, such as Falon'Din, the Friend of the Dead, still line the hallways as lifeless reminders of better days.
Involvement
Mahariel and Tamlen discover these ruins after hearing about them from some human scavengers. Within they locate an eluvian however when they approach it, Tamlen vanishes and Mahariel is killed from the taint.
However if the Warden is from the Dalish Elf Origin then Duncan makes a timely arrival and brings an unconscious Mahariel back to camp for healing. Later, Mahariel returns with Merrill and possibly Fenarel and after battling against darkspawn they encounter Duncan who explains that the eluvian had been infected with the darkspawn taint and destroys it to ensure no one else is harmed.
In Dragon Age II it is revealed that Merrill took a shard from the broken eluvian with her to the Free Marches in order to unlock its secrets.
She also makes references on the events in the Elven Ruins, including the two possible outcomes of Mahariel.
Two years later, in 9:32 Dragon, the Warden-Commander visits the ruins with Finn and Ariane to track down the remnants of the eluvian as a means to locate a connected eluvian elsewhere.
Quests
Dalish Elf Origin
The Lost Mysteries of the Ancients

Enemies
- Dalish Elf Origin

Notes
- In a tunnel behind the eluvian there is a strange statue commemorating the emergence and short-lived trading relationship with the dwarves who "dug too high and frugal and struck elves".
- Considering this influence, the Elven Ruins' architecture might not be of human origin as Tamlen claims but of dwarven.
