This was the sword carried by Fereldan's Grey Warden commander, Duncan, who was slain at the Battle of Ostagar. It was left buried in the corpse of the ogre that killed King Cailan. In the downloadable content Return to Ostagar, the ogre that killed King Cailan is resurrected by the Genlock Necromancer with Duncan's sword and dagger stuck in its chest.
Upgrade
On the PC version, Duncan's Sword can be upgraded by selling it to an NPC vendor such as Mikhael Dryden. On the XBox version, Duncan's Sword can be upgraded by putting it in the party storage chest at Soldier's Peak
Notes
- Duncan's Sword imports to Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening, but only if you do not have it equipped, it must be in your inventory.
- The code for the Add Item console mod is kcc_im_wep_mel_lsw_dun_uti
Trivia
Despite various cut scenes where Duncan's weapons seems to change models, when equipped this item has the Oathkeeper model, but the color of the blade is different.
