Dragon Age is a fantasy role-playing franchise developed by BioWare. The series focuses on the continent of Thedas, tells stories spanning multiple nations and various time periods.


Dragon Age was first announced during the 2004 E3 expo.[1]


The first game of the Dragon Age series, Dragon Age: Origins, was released on November 6, 2009. Following Dragon Age: Origins, the expansion pack, Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening was released on March 16, 2010. On July 8, 2010 BioWare announced Dragon Age II.[2] and was released on March 8, 2011.


Currently, two novels: Dragon Age: The Stolen Throne and Dragon Age: The Calling have been released. Both of these novels were written by David Gaider, the lead writer on Origins, and focus on the early years of King Maric Theirin and to his rise to throne. A third novel, centred around the seperation of the templars from the Chantry will be released in late 2011.


BioWare has joined with FUNimation to develop an anime film set in the Dragon Age universe. It has been expected to be released for home video in 2011.[3], but has been delayed to 2012.

Table-top RPG

Green Ronin has released a pen and paper RPG based on the world of Dragon Age.
