This article contains information on Downloadable content for Dragon Age: Origins. Some downloadable content can be purchased within the game with BioWare points, through the Xbox Marketplace, or through the PlayStation Store, while others were pre-order promotional items and can no longer be obtained. Several of the promotional items are now available for anyone with a BioWare Social Network account. See here for more information.

BioWare originally announced during the final stages of the development of Dragon Age: Origins that two years' worth of downloadable content were planned for release. The planned DLC would include items such as rings and amulets, short adventures like Warden's Keep and full expansion packs with dozens of hours of new gameplay. With the earlier than expected arrival of Dragon Age II, Witch Hunt was confirmed to be the last DLC release for Dragon Age: Origins.

DLC items and Awakening

Not all of the Dragon Age: Origins DLC can be accessed in Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening. All equipment obtained in Return to Ostagar transfers successfully on all platforms. The items obtained in The Stone Prisoner import only on the PC. Additionally, while the equipment from Warden's Keep does not transfer on any platform, the Power of Blood abilities do (as of patch 1.04).

None of the promotional items import successfully, except for Memory Band. Having any of the non-importable items equipped on the Warden may cause their stats (including fatigue) to be permanently stuck on the character.

Add-ons

These add-ons unlock new areas to discover, such as the Soldier's Peak, or new characters with their backstory such as Shale. They can be obtained via the Xbox Live Marketplace xbox360, the PlayStation Store ps3, or BioWare's website pc.

Warden's Keep

Released: 3rd November 2009 Warden's Keep is a downloadable content that is available for purchase on the Xbox Live Marketplace, the Playstation Store, and BioWare's site. It is included in the Digital Deluxe Edition, the Collector's Edition and the Ultimate Edition. Warden's Keep grants players access to the fortress of Soldier's Peak, a quest to unlock the mysteries of the fortress, two new talents/spells for each class from the Power of Blood school, two achievements, and various items. In addition, Warden's Keep includes two new merchants and a Party Storage Chest that allows the player to store additional inventory. Playtime added: About 1 to 2 hours.

The Stone Prisoner

Released: 3rd November 2009 The Stone Prisoner is available for free on the Xbox Live Marketplace, the Playstation Store, and BioWare's website. It is also included in the Ultimate Edition. The Stone Prisoner refers to the titular character of this downloadable content, Shale. In addition, the DLC also grants player access to the village of Honnleath, the abandoned dwarven Cadash Thaig, two new achievements, and crystals which act as armor and weapons for Shale. Playtime added: About 2 to 3 hours.

Return to Ostagar

Released: 13th January 2010 (1st release) Re-released (360 & PC): 29th January 2010 Release (PS3): 11th March 2010 Return to Ostagar is available for purchase on the Xbox Live Marketplace, the Playstation Store, and BioWare's site. It is also included in the Ultimate Edition. Return to Ostagar features the return of the Warden to Ostagar. There, the Warden will discover King Cailan's armor, Duncan's weapons and the motivation behind Loghain's betrayal. In addition, Return to Ostagar will also grant the player a second chance at recruiting Dog, and one new achievement. Playtime added: About 1 to 2 hours. This content requires game version 1.02 or newer.

Feastday Gifts

Released: 1st April 2010 Feastday Gifts is available for purchase on the Xbox Live Marketplace, the Playstation Store, and BioWare's site. It can be downloaded separately or as part of the Feastday Gifts and Pranks pack. It is also included in the Ultimate Edition. There are ten unique Feastday gifts available--one for each companion--as well as two generic items that can be given to any companion. This content requires game version 1.03 or newer.

Released: 1st April 2010 Feastday Pranks is available for purchase on the Xbox Live Marketplace, the Playstation Store, and BioWare's site. It can be downloaded separately or as part of the Feastday Gifts and Pranks pack. It is also included in the Ultimate Edition. There are ten unique feastday pranks available--one for each companion--as well as two generic items that can be given to any companion. This content requires game version 1.03 or newer.

Campaigns

These provide separate adventures with 'new' main characters (two have the option of importing the Warden).

A Tale of Orzammar

Released: 9th December 2009 A Tale of Orzammar is a promotional campaign for Dragon Age: Origins released with the December 2009 issue of PC Gamer. A Tale of Orzammar is a downloadable content that serves as a prologue to the Dwarf Noble Origin. It explores the actions of a dwarven nobleman who has contracted a mercenary to retrieve a valuable artifact from a ruined thaig within the Deep Roads. The events that take place away from the prying eyes of Orzammar are merely a prelude to an even greater crime. Playtime added: About 40 minutes. In order to acquire this DLC, you can follow this link and download the file, which can be installed afterwards like any other .dazip extension for Dragon Age: Origins.

The Darkspawn Chronicles

Released: 18th May 2010 The Darkspawn Chronicles is available for purchase on the Xbox Live Marketplace, the Playstation Store, and BioWare's site. It is also included in the Ultimate Edition. This downloadable content features a look at an alternate history: what if your character had died in the Joining ceremony, and the Grey Wardens marched under Alistair's command instead? The content is a standalone adventure in which you command genlocks, hurlocks, shrieks, and even the mighty ogres. Includes a unique reward called Blightblood that transfers into your Awakening and Origins campaigns upon completing the DLC. There are three new achievements. Playtime added: About 1 to 2 hours. This content requires game version 1.03 or newer. This may be an issue since many if not most of the bugs introduced in 1.03 have not been resolved as of the 1.04 release.

Leliana's Song

Released: 6th July 2010 Leliana's Song is available for purchase on the Xbox Live Marketplace, the Playstation Store, and BioWare's site. It is also included in the Ultimate Edition. A standalone adventure in which you play as Leliana during the mission—and betrayal—that changed her forever. It is years before the Blight, and Leliana is a young bard whose curiosities run more to passion than to the Chant of Light. Her mentor, Marjolaine, is determined to inflict the Orlesian game of intrigue on Ferelden, and Leliana is eager to please. It is a time of adventure and excitement. And it cannot last. Includes a unique reward called Battledress of the Provocateur that transfers into your Awakening and Origins campaigns upon completing the DLC. There are three new achievements. Playtime added: About 1 to 2 hours. This content requires game version 1.03 or newer. This may be an issue since many if not most of the bugs introduced in 1.03 have not been resolved as of the 1.04 release.

The Golems of Amgarrak

Released: 10th August 2010 The Golems of Amgarrak is available for purchase on the Xbox Live Marketplace, the Playstation Store, and BioWare's site. It is also included in the Ultimate Edition. The Warden has come to Orzammar at the request of Jerrik Dace. Jerrik’s brother, Brogan led an expedition into the Deep Roads to find Amgarrak and the long-lost secrets of golem construction. The rediscovery of such a method would bring great wealth, power and prestige to House Dace, but the expedition has not returned and is now feared lost. Jerrik, along with his trusty bronto, Snug, will be joining the Warden in the search for his missing brother. Players will find other unexpected companions as they continue on the journey and will need all the help that they can get. There are three new achievements, which will each unlock a unique reward (a necklace, The High Regard of House Dace, a mace, The Reaper's Cudgel, and a belt, Sash of Forbidden Secrets) that transfers into your Origins and Awakening campaigns. Playtime added: About 1 to 2 hours. This content requires game version 1.04 or newer. This may be an issue since many if not most of the bugs introduced in 1.03 have not been resolved as of the 1.04 release.

Witch Hunt

Released: 7th September 2010 (1st Release) Re-released (PC): 20th September 2010 (v1.1 Release) Witch Hunt is available for purchase on the Xbox Live Marketplace, the Playstation Store, and BioWare's site. It is also included in the Ultimate Edition. Witch Hunt is a downloadable content that explores the whereabouts of Morrigan, the Witch of the Wilds, who aided the Warden during the Blight. It is also the final downloadable content for Dragon Age: Origins. There are four new achievements, which each unlock a unique reward (a two-handed axe, Dragonbone Cleaver, a longbow, The Sorrows of Arlathan, a mage robe, Vestments of the Seer, and a belt, Cinch of Skillful Maneuvering) that transfers into your Origins and Awakening campaigns. Playtime added: About 1 to 2.5 hours.

Promotional

These promotional downloadable contents can still be obtained—either by uploading your character with Dragon Age: Origins Character Creator, playing Dragon Age: Journeys, or buying a new copy of Dragon Age: Origins. Each of these unlocks a powerful in-game item that may be useful throughout the game. Others (like the Collector's Edition) unlock multiple items.

Note: At present, the majority of promotional items for Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening can be unlocked for free by anyone through Dragon Age Keep. This includes most/all promotional items items. See here and click "Dragon Age: Origins" for more information.

Blood Dragon Armor

Released: 3rd November 2009 Commissioned by an infamous Nevarran dragon hunter, this armor was crafted in a time when dragons had almost been hunted to extinction. Infused with their blood, the armor gained notoriety after the hunter died at the hands of men rather than the dragons it was designed to protect him from. This DLC is available without extra cost to players who purchased a new copy of Dragon Age: Origins. In addition, unlocking the Blood Dragon armor set in Dragon Age: Origins will unlock it for use in Mass Effect 2. The code on the card located inside the new copy states that the download will expire April 30, 2010, but it has been used well beyond that date as of March, 2013. It is also available for free on the Xbox Live Marketplace, and is included in the Ultimate Edition. The Blood Dragon armor set is Massive, Silverite plate adorned with a crimson dragon across the left shoulder. The armor is placed in your inventory immediately, while the gloves, boots and helm can be purchased cheaply from Bodahn Feddic.

Collector's Edition

Released: 3rd November 2009 A collection of three special items exclusive to the Dragon Age: Origins Collector's Edition. You'll receive one item immediately. The others are available from Bodahn in the party camp. The Collector's Edition promotion consists of three items exclusive to Dragon Age: Origins Collector's Edition and Dragon Age: Origins Digital Deluxe Edition. The Grimoire of the Frozen Wastes is available immediately, while the helmet, Bergen's Honor, and the staff, Final Reason, are available for sale from Bodahn Feddic.

The Lucky Stone

Released: 3rd November 2009 This old stone, set in a golden ring, has been an aid and companion to dozens of adventurers across innumerable years. Its trip to Ferelden was long and convoluted. Some say it has a life of its own. The Lucky Stone is free to players who uploaded a character made with the Character Creator to the BioWare Social Network. It can also be unlocked for free by anyone with a Bioware Social Network account. See here for more information. Stats: Adds +1 to all stats

Embri's Many Pockets

Released: 3rd November 2009 Embri of Gwaren, an elven mage of limited talent who volunteered to become one of the Tranquil, proved herself a talented enchanter--if absent-minded. She kept an array of magical ingredients on her belt at all times, and eventually the belt itself became magical. Embri died of lyrium poisoning many years later, but the enchanted belt remains. Embri's Many Pockets can be downloaded for free in-game by players who have completed Chapter 1 of Dragon Age Journeys. It can also be unlocked for free by anyone with a Bioware Social Network account. See here for more information. Stats: +5% fire resistance, +5% cold resistance, +5% electricity resistance, +5% nature resistance, +5% spirit resistance

Amulet of the War Mage

Released: 3rd November 2009 "This amulet was forged during the height of the ancient Tevinter Imperium's power, a time when entire armies would flee upon seeing a Tevinter magister stride into battle. While the name Cavellus remains engraved on its back, any memory of the magister who created it has been lost to the mists of time." Amulet of the War Mage is an amulet available for free. It can be downloaded by players who have signed up for an account in Dragon Age Journeys. It can also be unlocked by anyone with a Bioware Social Network account. See here for more information. Stats: +5% fire damage, +5% cold damage, +5% electricity damage, +5% nature damage, +5% spirit damage

Helm of the Deep

Released: 3rd November 2009 "There is a legend amongst the dwarves of the Legion of the Dead that, three centuries ago, a commander of the Legion came across the body of a legionnaire wearing a helmet inscribed with lyrium. He took it, and died nobly... and then his body was found years later by another commander – and so forth, for generations. The helmet is said to be a sign of an honorable death for the lucky dwarf who stumbles across it." Helm of the Deep is available for free. It can be downloaded in-game by players who completed all five achievements in Dragon Age Journeys. The achievements are to 1) reach the gates of Orzammar, 2) kill two monsters in a single attack, 3) convince the Bard to join the party, 4) defeat an ogre with all party members at full health, and 5) defeat the hurlock emissary. Exclusive

These DLCs were originally available under limited circumstances as an incentive for purchasing particular editions of the game or from a particular retailer. Several items are available in both Origins and the expansion Awakening, though they possess different (and improved, in the case of the expansion) statistics.

Mark of Vigilance

Released: 13th November 2009 Not all maleficar practice forbidden blood magic, but templars must constantly guard against the possibility that even an innocuous-seeming mage has delved into arts that permit him to control the minds of others. The best mage-hunters are granted these valued amulets as rewards by the Divine. They are often entombed alongside the templar when he dies. Mark of Vigilance is an amulet available in this self-titled downloadable content. Originally available to anyone who purchased a Dragon Age: Origins t-shirt from Hot Topic. Stats: +6 defense, +2% spell resistance, +5 mental resistance

Memory Band

Released: 3rd November 2009 Made by the Formari, these lyrium-infused rings are supposed to help apprentices retain their lessons. They work rather well - too well, perhaps, as less capable students sometimes wear three or four per finger. The Memory Band is a ring available in this self-titled downloadable content. It also comes with a Formari Tome that adds one skill point after use. Originally available for free to players who pre-ordered Origins from any retailer. Stats: Ring adds +1% to gained XP.

Lion's Paw

Released: 3rd November 2009 Lady Rosamund, an infamous outlaw of the Korcari Wilds, wore these regal boots. Through clever ambushes and surprising tactics, she spent decades preying on merchants and eluding the king's guards until one day she simply disappeared. Some still brave the Wilds in search of her hidden hoard of treasure. The Lion's Paw is a pair of boots available in this self-titled downloadable content. Originally available to players who pre-ordered Origins from Amazon. Stats: +1 to armor, +10% to dodge attacks, +10% chance of missile attacks

Feral Wolf Charm

Released: 3rd November 2009 Chasind hunters favor charms like this. The hunters claim that they are enchanted on moonlit nights by scantily clad witches deep in the heart of the Korcari Wilds. But perhaps that is just wishful thinking. The Feral Wolf Charm is is an amulet available in this self-titled downloadable content. Originally available to players who pre-ordered Origins from Gamestop. Stats: +1 to armor, +5 health regeneration outside combat, +15% nature resistance

The Wicked Oath

Released: 3rd November 2009 Countess Luciana of Antiva lived as a virtual prisoner in her husband’s castle until an elven slave offered her a way out. The slave magically bound a small amount of the countess’s blood into a ring in return for a promise of freedom. The countess agreed, and the count was found stabbed soon afterwards, this ring lying beside him. Neither Luciana nor the slave were seen again. The Wicked Oath is a ring available in this self-titled downloadable content. This DLC is manually installable for PC players. Originally available to players who pre-ordered the PC version of Origins from Steam. Stats: Adds +10% to critical strike damage, improves armor penetration by 1 and adds +1 to combat stamina regeneration

Band of Fire

Released: 3rd November 2009 Magical fire is used with great care in the construction of these rings. After a few unfortunate incidents of singed eyebrows and burnt hair, there is some speculation that this is why the Formari often shave their heads. The Band of Fire is a ring available in this self-titled downloadable content. Originally available to players who pre-ordered Origins from EA store. Stats: +3 to constitution, +25 to fire resistance, +10 to spirit resistance

Dalish Promise Ring

Released: 3rd November 2009 Intended for a Dalish elf's betrothed, this enchanted silver band was blessed by the tribe's Keeper to ensure a long, healthy life. The Dalish Promise Ring is a ring available in this self-titled downloadable content. Originally available to players who pre-ordered Origins from Direct2Drive or GAME. Stats: +1 to health regeneration in combat, +15% to healing effects received, reduces hostility

Guildmaster's Belt

Released: 3rd November 2009 The guilds of Denerim are despised by the peasants of Ferelden because the guildmasters grow fat off their labors. Quite literally in the case of this belt's former owner, who could’ve stood to lose a pound or two. -- Guildmaster's Belt The Guildmaster's Belt is a belt available in this self-titled downloadable content. Originally available to players who pre-ordered Origins from Game Crazy or Mighty Ape. Stats: +3 cunning, +5% to dodge, increases monetary gain

The Edge
	Released: 30th November 2009 Newly forged and sporting an edge sharp enough to cut through boot leather, this blade is the pinnacle of Fereldan crafting skill. Wait, there's more! It slices, it dices, and can make Orlesian potatoes. Yours for just one easy payment. The Edge is a dagger available in this self-titled downloadable content. Stats: +5 damage +3% critical +4 attack

Bulwark of the True King

Released: 16th March 2010 This shield once belonged to Moira, the Rebel Queen, who was killed when her liege lords betrayed her to the Orlesians. The shield was taken from her body and given in tribute to the usurper Meghren. It has since changed hands several times. Bulwark of the True King is a shield available in this self-titled PC/Mac only downloadable content. Originally available as part of a giveaway from Alienware. Note: Not available for the xbox360 or ps3. Origins stats: +3 willpower +2 constitution +3 defense +1 armor Awakening stats: +5 willpower +3 constitution +3 defense +1 armor, absorbs damage This content requires game version 1.03 or newer.

Pearl of the Anointed

Released: 19th March 2010 This amulet was torn from the neck of Emperor Kordillus Drakon of Orlais--"the Anointed"--during one of the many battles he fought to spread the Chant throughout Thedas. Pearl of the Anointed is an amulet available in this self-titled downloadable content. Originally available to players who pre-ordered Origins from amazon.de and play.com. Note: Not available for the xbox360 or ps3. Origins stats: +1 to all attributes, Increases monetary gain Awakening stats: +2 to all attributes, Increases monetary gain This content requires game version 1.03 or newer.

Bregan's Bow

Released: 19th March 2010 This bow once belonged to the Orlesian Commander of the Grey Wardens, Bregan. When he ventured into the Deep Roads for his Calling, he left this bow in the hands of a young recruit. What happened to Bregan after this is a mystery. Bregan's Bow is a shortbow available in this self-titled downloadable content. Originally available to players who pre-ordered Origins from gamestop.de and game.co.uk. Note: Not available for the xbox360 or ps3. Origins stats: +3 armor penetration, +6 attack, +10% critical/backstab damage Awakening stats: +6 armor penetration, +10 attack, +15% critical/backstab damage This content requires game version 1.03 or newer.

Manual installation

There are a few in-game bugs that restrict a player from downloading his or her content. These instructions are meant to help PC players manually install their authorized DLC. Downloadable content can be manually installed in the PC version of Dragon Age: Origins. However, some downloadable content, such as Warden's Keep, requires authorization. As such, they cannot be enabled in-game until they have been authorized—either by entering a promotional code or by purchasing the content.

To install downloadable content manually follow these instructions:

1. Download the DAZIP file.
2. Locate daupdater.exe in your game folder. For example, Steam users will find the file at: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\dragon age origins\bin_ship\. Users of the Ultimate Edition will find the file at: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dragon Age Ultimate Edition\bin_ship\. Otherwise, the default location is at C:\Program Files (x86)\Dragon Age\bin_ship.
3. Run daupdater.exe
4. Click Load DAZIPs and browse to the location where you downloaded your DLC .dazip file.
5. Install it.
6. Run Dragon Age: Origins and check your DLC

Note: You might want to change the *.zip into *.dazip if you find daupdater can't see the zip files.

Be aware that a majority of the DLC requires an active internet connection and also requires you to be logged into your Bioware/EA Online account that you used to purchase or redeem the content. Otherwise you will get Unauthorized info in the Installed Content.

The Stone Prisoner, Warden's Keep, Return to Ostagar, The Darkspawn Chronicles, Leliana's Song, The Golems of Amgarrak, Feastday Gifts, Feastday Pranks and Witch Hunt require the corresponding offer files to work. The installation procedure for offers is the same as that for any other DLC.

• DAO_PRC_STR_O - Offer file for Witch Hunt
• DAO_PRC_OCP_3 - Offer file for Feastday Gifts
• DAO_PRC_OCP_7 - Offer file for Feastday Pranks
• DAO_PRC_OCP_13 - Offer file for Feastday Combo Pack

Make sure the offer file is really installed, by looking in C:\Users\%username%\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\AddIns, there should be a folder of the same name. If it is not there, unpack it from the dazip file (from inside Contents\Offers). It might also help to put the manifest.xml file from the dazip to its respective folder within AddIns for main file and Offer folder for offer files).

All DLC's are included in the GOG version and is DRM free and doesn't require any authorization to use any DLC, however the collector edition items are release with a free patch.

You can bypass the offers files not working by doing the following:

1. Go to C:\Users\%username%\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Settings

II. Copy the AddIns.xml file somewhere safe (as a backup)

C. Open the original AddIns.xml in Notepad. (notepad++ works great as you can search for all instances of RequiresAuthorization="1" and then replace them all at once with RequiresAuthorization="0" using the notepad++ Find option. *The Find Option is the Binoculars icon*)

4. Search for RequiresAuthorization="1" and change each instance to RequiresAuthorization="0"

V. Save, start game, enjoy.
