Crafting in Dragon Age: Inquisition allows the player to create unique weapons, armor, and runes.
In order to craft weapons or armor, you need crafting materials and schematics. Both of these can be found randomly, or bought from merchants.
The material choose to craft with will control the specific stats of your new item, while schematics will govern how an item will look and its potential power.
To craft runes, you will need to read glyphs by veilfire.
The player must also find a crafting station before they can create anything new. They can be found at Haven, the Undercroft in Skyhold and any keeps that are captured.
Weapon and armor material slots
Each different schematic will allow you to place a set number of leather, metal, or cloth into your recipe. Which material you choose will determine the outcome for your item.
Primary slot
The primary slot governs the attack value of weapons, the armor value of armor, and the elemental damage type of staves.
Utility slot
The utility slot controls what primary attribute will be upgraded.
Offense slot
The offense slot provides a unique attack ability.
Defense slot
The defense slot provides various resistances.
Masterwork
Higher level weapon and armor schematics might have a masterwork slot that can optionally be filled by a masterwork crafting material that can offer a unique bonus.
Crafting upgrades
Some weapons and some pieces of armor have additional upgrade slots that need their own schematics to craft.
Crafting runes
Once you have found a rune recipe, they can also be crafted.
Potions
Visit an apothecary with herbs you gather in the wilderness to upgrade potions.
Use the Equip Station to assign different potions to each of your party members and to replenish the potions you are carrying.
Use the Upgrade Station to unlock permanent upgrades to your potions. Potion upgrades require a significant amount of herbs to unlock; in return, they give permanent and significant bonuses t your potions.
