When not in a dungeon, you can use the quest map to travel to distant locations.
Xbox 360/Xbox One...
Press menu and select the quest map in the hero menu.
Press Y from the quest map to access the world map and travel to unlocked areas.
PC...
Press [M] to open the quest map.
PS3/PS4...
Press option and select the quest map in the hero menu.
Press [triangle] from the quest map to access the world map and travel to unlocked areas.
