"Who am I?" the echo asked,
For I had asked it, too.
"You are me," I echoed back,
"Or maybe I am you."
"Who am I?" the Echo asked,
When I said not a word.
"Worry not, for I am you,"
The Echo soon assured.
"And I know where the gold was lost,
And I know what you carry,
And I know where to dig the hole,
And what you plan to bury."
"Who are you?" I echo back
To a voice now far away,
And wait to hear an answer
From the place where secrets lay.
Note attached to the poem, sent to Harding:
This is Lavendel's version. I've heard the piece elsewhere in the Anderfels, but the third verse was different. —Evka
