There are three available classes in Dragon Age: The Veilguard -- magerogue and warrior. Each of these have three specializations.

Specializations[]

Specializations are sub-class choices that further define and customize characters. They become available once Rook reaches level 20 and do not require spending a Skill Point. Each specialization adds an ultimate ability, an ability, two ability upgrades, two traits, four greater passives and four passives. While the ultimate and ability are available at level 20, the first trait can only be selected at level 30, and the second trait at level 40. Only one specialization can be active at a time, though Rook is free to respec and choose a different specialization at any time.

The factions listed below are associated with each sub-class in terms of theme, but Rook's sub-class does not have to match their faction.[1]

Mage[]

Rogue[]

  • Duelist: uses two blades for rapid strikes and has the fastest movement of the rogue specializations, focusing on dodges and parries. Faction: Antivan Crows.
  • Saboteur: uses traps and tricks to turn the tide of battle. Faction: Lords of Fortune.
  • Veil Ranger: uses a solely ranged style of combat to hit enemies from afar with a bow. Faction: Veil Jumpers.

Warrior[]

  • Champion: uses weapon and shield, focusing on tactical defense and tanking hits from enemies. Faction: Grey Wardens.
  • Reaper: uses night blades to steal health from foes, risking death to gain supernatural abilities. Faction: Mourn Watch.
  • Slayer: uses two-handed weapons for simple but strong attacks that have increased damage. Faction: Lords of Fortune.

Companion Specializations[]

Each companion has a unique skill tree comprised of 5 base abilities and a Veilguard skill that is unlocked as you complete their companion quests.

Notes[]

  • Blood Mage will not be an available specialization for Rook, as Rook is said by the developers to have "reasons to avoid blood magic."[2]
