- Shocked enemies can be put to Sleep via the Weaken effect (see special combos) with upgraded Rift Mage spells: Punching Down for Veilstrike, Shatterstone for Stonefist, or Shaken Veil for Pull of the Abyss. Weaken can also be inflicted with basic attacks when Maker's Will is an active passive ability, or with an upgraded Walking Bomb
- The Weaken effect must be applied after the Shocked effect in order to combo into Sleep. Using Chain Lightning on a pre-existing Weaken will not work
- With friendly fire enabled, this spell can target allies, and does so rather unpredictably. When two enemies or more are within the bolt's "arc" range, it will usually jump without incident. Without additional targets in range, the arc will default to hitting allies, making this spell a poor choice against lone enemies such as bosses
