Cetus is a rare marine animal inhabiting the warm waters of the Boeric Ocean, occasionally migrating south to the Waking Sea.[1]
Characteristic
Cetuses' diet consists of fish and whales. Their smooth-scaled skin conducts electricity and they can issue bursts of electricity at their prey. Cetuses are longer than most sailing ships and are known to coil around both people and boats. The largest of cetuses dwell on the ocean floor. The tales say that they are attracted to the surface during lightning storms.[1]
In culture
The Qunari call cetus "aban-ataashi", a "sea dragon". A common phrase among Qunari warriors is "Grasp your foes in the jaws of the aban-ataashi", meaning to crush them utterly and leave no trace of their existence.[1]
