Caronel is a city elf and mage. He joined the Grey Wardens after the Fifth Blight. He has honey-colored hair in loose curls, and gold-flecked eyes.[1]

Background

This section contains spoilers for:
Dragon Age: Last Flight.

Caronel grew up in Ferelden. To save himself from the ire of humans rioting in the alienages following the death of king Cailan Theirin at Ostagar, he joined the Wardens. At the time he wished only for revenge against the shemlen he saw as unjust.[2]

Following his Joining, he moved to Weisshaupt. Though still bitter, his attitude towards humans and to his lot as a Warden grew into resignation and acceptance of his life. He became a Warden too late to participate in the Fifth Blight, but retains his sense of duty to Thedas despite the knowledge that he may endure an early death to no purpose.

Caronel appears to be an Arcane Warrior, using a magical Shimmering Shield of protection in combat and favoring a sword as a focus rather than a staff. Given the extreme rarity of arcane warriors in modern-day Thedas, and Caronel's hailing from Ferelden, the likely implication is that the Warden might have taught him this specialty.[3]
