Involvement[]
Dragon Age: The Veilguard[]
Once Bellara Lutare repairs the Vi'Revas, the Lighthouse's eluvian, the Caretaker will appear to the Veilguard. Harding states that the Caretaker does not feel dangerous, but rather sad. All that it reveals about themselves is that in response to being asked if they were one entity or many, that they go where they are needed. The Caretaker introduces the new heroes to the The Crossroads and warns them that Elgar'nan and Ghilan'nain are trying to spread their influence over it. The elven gods have spread blight, death, madness, and also sent their minions to claim the Crossroads. The Caretaker is unable to protect the party from the dangers in the Crossroads, but it can ferry them to the other islands in the Crossroads.
When the Caretaker transports the Veilguard to the Converged City, the Caretaker informs them that spirits were driven out by the elven gods' minions and they are now refugees there. The Caretaker has summoned the guardians of the Crossroads to protect them, but warns Rook's team that the guardians repel all interlopers—including the party.
As the Veilguard progresses in overcoming the elven gods' minions in the Crossroads, the Caretaker regains more control of the Crossroads and begins repairing its infrastructure.
The Caretaker also sells merchandise and provides enchanting services at the Lighthouse Courtyard, where their workshop is located.
Caretaker's Workshop[]
Shop Rank[]
The strength of weapons, armor, and accessories is determined by their rarity (common, uncommon, rare, epic, legendary, or unique) and their level (which can be from +0 to +10). The initial level of an item is determined by the current Shop Rank at the Caretaker's Workshop at the time the item was found or purchased. Additionally, when a duplicate item is found or purchased, the item's rarity will increase one step and its level will increase up to the Workshop's current Shop Rank. An item's level can also be increased at the Workshop up to the Shop Rank level using the Upgrade function (see the section below).
As an example, if the player finds a common armor and they have currently upgraded their workshop to Shop Rank 3, then the armor will be a common +3 armor. If they have later upgraded the Workshop to Shop Rank 4, they can upgrade their common armor to +4 at the Workshop. Alternatively, they might find the same armor in a chest, in which case the armor will become uncommon +4 armor.
The Workshop's Shop Rank can be upgraded by increasing the Caretaker's power through finding Mementos.
