Capturing Caer Bronach is a side quest in Dragon Age: Inquisition.
Bandits known as the Highwaymen have occupied Caer Bronach. Without the fortifications of this legendary keep for protection, the villagers of Crestwood and surrounding area are left exposed to undead plaguing the region.
Acquisition[]
Automatically obtained when the Inquisitor first approaches Caer Bronach during the side quest Still Waters. This quest is particularly important as the Inquisition gains a keep to use as a stronghold in the area upon completion.
Walkthrough[]
Destroy the keep gate to enter the Caer Bronach courtyard, making sure to pick up the Sad Splinters.
Two Armored Mabari will immediately charge towards the Inquisitor's party while two Archers directly in front of the gate on top of the stables attack from a distance. Advancing onto the stable roof to attack the archers may draw the attention of the three Highwaymen foot soldiers (Warriors) atop the stairs, so be wary of sending melee companions onto the stable roof.
Head through the doorway behind the courtyard to approach the inner keep. One Highwayman Guardsman with a tower shield will block the stairs up. An archer on the stairs to the right and another on the walkway to the left will use ranged attacks to support the Guardsman. A pair of Highwaymen foot soldier warriors will charge down the right staircase to support the Guardsman at close range, providing a useful opportunity for an Area of Effect attack or spell. Once enough Highwaymen have been killed, two additional foot soldiers and two Highway Prowler (Rogue-Double Daggers) will join as enemy re-enforcements from the left side balcony.
Advance through the main courtyard to the stairwell on the left hand side, a Supply Cache can be found to the right of the stairs. Head up the next flight of stairs and out onto the top level balcony. Two archers are on the left walkway leading to the flagpole, while a foot soldier and the Highwaymen Lieutenant attack from the right of the balcony.
Once they've been disposed of, two more Lieutenants and the Highwaymen Chief (2-Handed Warrior, Maul), will attack. The chief will drop the Last Stand upon defeat. Raise the flag on the flagpole to claim Caer Bronach for the Inquisition.

Completing the quest yields:

Results[]
- Caer Bronach will now be available as a fully functional Inquisition stronghold whereby the Inquisitor can craft and modify both weapons and armor, equip and upgrade potions and sell items at the newly installed merchant.
Bugs[]
- If you leave the keep after having started the assault but prior to completing the quest, it is entirely possible that the enemies will stop spawning and the door to the area containing the flagpole will remain sealed, rendering the keep unconquerable.
