By the Grace of the Dalish is a side quest in Dragon Age: Inquisition.
Dalish would be skeptical of any force as powerful and connected as the Inquisition. It will take considerable effort to earn the favor of Hawen's Clan.
Acquisition[]
Speak with Master Taniel or Loranil in the Dalish Encampment located on the Exalted Plains to initiate the quest. Alternatively, if the Inquisitor has already spoken with the Dalish hunter as part of A Dalish Perspective, speaking to Keeper Hawen and mentioning the rendezvous will also initiate the quest.
Walkthrough[]
Earn favor by completing the various subquests. The quest completes when 15 favor has been earned.
Speak to Loranil once the Dalish Favor +15 has been earned to recruit him for the Inquisition.
Favor gains[]
- For non-elven Inquisitors, meeting the Dalish hunter Olafin as part of the quest A Dalish Perspective and selecting the "I met one of your hunters" option when speaking to Keeper Hawen afterwards for Dalish Favor +1.Note: Not available if the camp is visited prior to meeting Olafin.
- Completing From the Beyond for Dalish Favor +3.
- Completing the Spoils of Desecration by giving Keeper Hawen the key to Unadin Grotto instead of opening the door for Dalish Favor +1.Note: Not available if the key has already been used to open the Grotto door. Additionally, if the key has been returned to Hawen, this will complete the quest The Spoils of Desecration and will prevent access to the Unadin Grotto by traditional means. See quest page for ways to bypass this as the Unadin Grotto contains a piece of the Invasion mosaic.
- Completing A Well-Stocked Camp for Dalish Favor +1 for the first four supply drops and Dalish Favor +3 for the fifth.
- Selecting the special dialogue option "A golden halla? Hanal'ghilan?" as an elven Inquisitor when speaking to Ithiren for the first time to earn Dalish Favor +1. Note: This option is also available to a non-elven Inquisitor with the Arcane Knowledge perk.
- Completing the Golden Halla for Dalish Favor +3.
- Completing Someone to Lose without mentioning "Blood magic" and selecting "Teenagers are stupid" for Dalish Favor +1 (or) "He was brave" for Dalish Favor +2.
- Completing Something to Prove for Dalish Favor +3.
- Completing the Knights' Tomb in the Emerald Graves and turning in the scroll to the Dalish rather than the Chantry gains Dalish Favor +3.
Favor losses[]
- Opening the Dalish graves in Var Bellanaris results in Dalish Favor -1 prior to completing From the Beyond.Note: This loss can be offset by giving the pieces of the tomb key to Keeper Hawen instead of using it on the Unadin Grotto door. Though this makes that door inaccessible, methods for bypassing it without the key can be found on The Spoils of Desecration quest page.
- Completing The Spoils of Desecration by entering Unadin Grotto results in Dalish Favor -1 prior to completing From the Beyond.
- Mentioning "Blood magic" to Emalien when turning in the quest Someone to Lose results in Dalish Favor -2.
Rewards[]
Completing the quest yields:
- 512 XP
- Influence 200
- Power 2
Recruiting Loranil as an agent yields:
- Influence 100
- Power 1
Results[]
- Master Taniel's wares become available for trade at Dalish Favor +8.
- Loranil joins the Inquisition as an agent under Cullen in the Forces category.
Notes[]
- It is entirely possible to negate the losses completely by looting the tomb and finishing the side quests before meeting with the Dalish. As the disposition is at zero, it will not go lower. Doing so holds no actual repercussions, i.e. the Dalish will admonish you at first but will still talk to you as normal.
- It is also possible to do the parts of the quest that affect the Dalish's disposition negatively after already acquiring Loranil as an agent, with no negative effects.
