thaw not tecnicly darkspone they can like normal Darkspawn be cut off from the song of the old gods using grey warden blood. how ever this is problematic its only ever been doune once with the mother who was not the least bit gratful. instead she sout to be under the old gods song. all the dark spawn seemed to injoy there higher consesness so its unclear why broodmothers don't take so well.

thaw uncomfured many fans speculate that the resaon for the unstabilty apon awaking is because they are gouls not darkspawn. they were normal once but were kid naped and forced to eat the flesh of other people and mutated in to what they now are. the song of the old gods stops them from remembering this so a pon being sudenly cut off they go mad.

also intresting to not once freeded for the song of the old gods they no longer give birth to the standared spease of derk spawn thaw only seen once the mother gave birth to a completly new and extremly dangeruse strain of dark spawn [[The children]]. exectly why they are different is unkon its possible that the warden blood used to free her couses mutaions thaw they all seem to consisten. there were hundreds of them and they where all the same so its probly not a birth defect.

intrestingly the mothers codex intry says she is breeding the children prehapes meaning she actully can consusly breed a stronger race of darkspawn as has the fully machured children are the strongest darkspaw yet.

A broodmother is a giant sessile ghoul capable of spawning vast numbers of darkspawn in a manner reminiscent of an insect queen.[1]

Background

Broodmothers give birth to a large litter at once, between twenty and fifty children.[2] They emerge from her womb as toddlers, often already able to walk, and grow rapidly in their first few weeks of life. A broodmother will birth thousands of darkspawn young in her lifetime.

Female captives are usually made broodmothers by the darkspawn. They contract the taint by being force-fed on darkspawn tissue. This gives them cannibalistic urges but also mutates them. These females turn into fully-fledged broodmothers after devouring massive amounts of flesh.

The race of the broodmother determines which kind of darkspawn she will give birth to. An elven broodmother will spawn shrieks, a dwarven broodmother genlocks, a human broodmother hurlocks, and a Qunari or kossith broodmother ogres. Each broodmother is capable of spawning thousands of darkspawn.
