“A dream came upon me, as my daughter slumbered beneath my heart. It told of her life and her betrayal and death. I am sorrow and regret. I am a mother weeping bitter tears for a daughter she could not save.”
Brona is the mother of Andraste and one of her original disciples.
Background[]
Brona was a tribeswoman of the Ciriane. She married Elderath, the chieftain of the northermost Alamarri tribes, to secure an alliance and prosperity for both their tribes.[1]
Involvement[]
Brona is one of the eight spirits the the Warden encounters in the Gauntlet during the quest A Test of Faith. The shade was likely summoned from a ritual which involved Brona's immolation. In order to advance in A Test of Faith, the Warden will need to answer the following riddle:
"Echoes from a shadow realm, whispers of things yet to come. Thought's strange sister dwells in night, is swept away by dawning light. Of what do I speak?".
The correct answer is "Dreams"; all other answers are not accepted. If the Warden answers correctly, the shade will disappear. If the Warden answers incorrectly, "Brona" will turn into an ash wraith and attack.
