BioWare premiered the new teaser trailer for the next Dragon Age at the Game Awards 2020!
While the trailer does not reveal the subtitle for the next game (if there is to be one), it clearly tells us that the next game will feature a new protagonist, one with "no magic hand, no ancient prophecies." Varric narrates the trailer, stating that he's got your back, indicating his return in the next game. As in previous trailers, Solas, under the name of the Dread Wolf, features as well.

On December 3, 2020, Mark Darrah, Executive Producer of the Dragon Age franchise, announced his retirement from BioWare after 23 years. Christian Dailey, Studio Director at BioWare Austin, will be moving into the Executive Producer role for the upcoming Dragon Age game.
Casey Hudson, Project Director of the Mass Effect trilogy and General Manager of BioWare since 2017, also announced his retirement on the same day.
From Mark Darrah
"I have been at BioWare since the 90s. Back when CRPGs were considered a dead genre. Through the last 23 years, I have watched video games evolve and grow into a truly powerful communication medium. We are an important part of so many people’s lives. And BioWare has been a part of this journey. Though I rema…
There it is, fellow Thedosians. Out of the blue, BioWare have released a sneak preview of the the next installment of the Dragon Age series, for IGN's gamescom 2020. Unlike the previous video, this one is entirely devoted to the next Dragon Age, and it is chock full of concrete information, ranging from character names, voice actors, to concept art and behind the scenes of animation production.
In addition, the official website of https://www.dragonage.com has been updated, and a tag line was added, that reads "The world needs a new hero. Will you answer the call?". However, the website is not yet fully functional, and the link to "more updates" is currently broken.
You can watch the video here.

In an ocean of silence surrounding the production of the next Dragon Age, a droplet of news will seem like spotting a glimpse of land over the horizon.
During their annual EA Play, in the segment about the "future of gaming", i.e. the next-gen consoles of PS5 and Xbox Series X, EA's Chief Studios Officer by the name of Laura Miele talks about using technology in EA's future games. She mentions BioWare, as images of what appears to be the next Dragon Age installment show on screen, and she says "BioWare imagines and creates worlds where you become the hero of your own story, and we're using this next generation of technology to make these fantasy worlds your reality".
The full 50 minutes video can be watched here and the segment in question s…
A new Dragon Age comic has been announced for release on January 15th, 2020.
Entitled "Dragon Age: Blue Wraith", the 3-issue mini-series will feature Fenris prominently. According to a release from Comicbook.com, "Dragon Age: Blue Wraith starts off with the fanatical Qunari seeking to topple the Tevinter mageocracy. Caught in the middle, one powerful young mage’s desperate search for her father brings her face-to-face with a notorious mage hunter—Fenris, the Blue Wraith."
The creative team for the comic will feature writers Nunzio DeFilippis and Christina Weir, with art by Fernando Heinz Furukawa and covers by Sachin Teng.
Good News Everyone!
Behold our long silence is now broken and we are made whole once more. After a long silence we finally have some proper dragon age news for you, Dragon Age: Tevinter Nights, has been announced! Already there is a great deal of speculation that much like Dragon Age: The Stolen Throne, Dragon Age: Asunder and Dragon Age: The Masked Empire, this is the latest installment in bioware's trend of building up to the next game by doing a book about the setting beforehand to further flesh it out and build up hype. Unlike previous titles though, this one will not be a novel but rather an anthology of short stories set in Tevinter.
So all of this has naturally furthered speculation that the game's setting will be in the Tevinter Impe…
Life is smacking me upside the head, I'll finish adding codex console entry codes when things calm down.

I've just received following email from the Wikia/Fandom support (also available here):
Hello from FANDOM,
On May 25th, 2018 the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), a new European data protection regulation, will go into effect. Unfortunately, in order to comply with this regulation, we will remove the Monobook skin from our network as it is not possible to bring it into compliance.
We understand that this is a drastic step and is an inconvenience for you and your community but we must be in compliance with this new regulation. For more information about the GDPR, please see https://www.eugdpr.org/gdpr-faqs.html
First thing first: Given that the DA Wiki has always been one of the few that are actually optimized for Monobook, is…
I have just made a wiki for the fans of the despised blood mages of Dragon Age...
As the title may suggest, I'm looking for builds for a rogue character. I'm still early game on Nightmare, but I'll likely be progressing fast. So if anyone could drop a good build for getting the game done on Nightmare and killing the dragons that would be a huge help.
You can now pre-oreder the deluxe editions of 'The Stolen Throne' and 'The Calling' as well as 'Dragon Age Library Edition Volume 2'.
The deluxe editions of the novels will feature brand new illustrations; foil stamped cover bound in supple faux leather; and a ribbon bookmark.
The 'Dragon Age Library Edition Volume 2' is an oversized hardcover book that collects Dragon Age: Magekiller #1-#5 and Dragon Age: Knight Errant #1-#5 and features creator commentary and behind-the-scenes material.
Hi all! This is a quick note to inform the community that based on the conversation here, we are moving away from the forums and focusing on the discussions.
Because of this, the forums are now archived.
Firstly, here is some recent BioWare news you may or may not be familiar with.
Following an unsuccessful launch of Mass Effect: Andromeda, the BioWare studio responsible for the series, BioWare Montreal, was shut down and absorbed by EA Motive. The future of Mass Effect is not clear.
Casey Hudson, the project director for Mass Effect 1, 2, and 3, has left BioWare in 2014, but returned to BioWare some six months ago to replace Aaryn Flynn as the general manager. Recently he has stated that the the production on the next Dragon Age game was completely rebooted to "add more live elements". Naturally, with it being EA, the fans assumed it means EA are adding lootboxes a'la Star Wars: Battlefront II fiasco. But, Hudson was quick to clarify (or at lea…
Good News Everyone!
In a more bizarre twist, Varric Tethras' pulp-noir novella, Hard In Hightown is undergoing de-fictionalization and will be released as a full book.
Prolific dwarven author and heroic companion of the Dragon Age games, Varric Tethras brings us the collected edition of his breakthrough crime-noir drama, Hard in Hightown (with help from his trusted human confidante, Mary Kirby)! This volume is beautifully illustrated by Stefano Martino, Álvaro Sarraseca, Andres Ponce, and Ricardo German Ponce Torres, with a painted cover by E.M. Gist!

On October 12, 2017, Mike Laidlaw, Lead Designer of Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2 and Creative Director of Dragon Age: Inquisition, announced that he was leaving BioWare after 14 years.
It's with a mix of emotions that I'm announcing my time with BioWare has ended. After 14 years and a chance to work on Jade Empire, Mass Effect and all things Dragon Age it's time for me to move on.
In my time at BioWare I have been lucky to work with some of the most talented and hardworking people in the industry. It's been an honor to be part of the Dragon Age team, and I have every confidence that the world we've created together is in good hands and I'm excited for the road ahead.
For the near future, I plan to spend my time reconnecting with all…
So I just found out that some information on the new DA game has been leaked called Dragon Age Retribution. The following link is a video of all the information that was leaked about the upcoming DA game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2WtWI68Fjs
Personally, I'm really excited for the new game if it plays half as good as this sounds.DhampireHEK (talk) 23:08, October 8, 2017 (UTC)
According to dorian, tevinter may ignore the horroes they comitated but they are very tradicional Peaple. So....what you guys think? are they a "all evil peaple" or believe what dorian says?
Its been on my mind for a while, but even though it was already debunked years ago, I still like to think of the Red Lyrium Dragon (in combination with the Elder One) as a de facto archdemon by the name of Razikale minus the darkspawn.
Of course, I'm probably just rambling away these random thoughts before bed, but just bear with me for a little bit.
I mean, yeah it doesn't control a horde of mindless monsters but its master happens to be ancient magister infused with the Taint, and his capability of respawning from one body to another is a recurring ability amongst their kind.
And even though its not really related, I still think Bioware should really consider releasing more books and comics that detail the narratives of characters other tha…
So Henio0 recently did this post on the hidden lore within the DAI DLC, and I wanted to reply to it with some crackpot ideas of my own, but since he hasn't played Trespasser yet, I'm making my own post.
Obvious spoilers ahead for all three DLC and the main game.
Also, check out this video recounting some of the more interesting bits of lore in the DLC.
- 1 Old Gods are Evanuris
- 2 Titans and Dwarves
- 3 Titans and the Taint
- 4 Titans and the Fade
- 5 Titans and Dragons
- 6 Ancient history
- 7 Black City
- 8 The Andruil Connection
Henio0 speculates that seven extremely powerful spirits managed to convince the Tevinters to bond them to powerful dragons, akin to Hakkon, but these dragons were then somehow imprisoned under the Earth and are gradually corrupted by the Blight into …
I have played through the Jaws of Hakkon when it was first released, and I thought it was okay. But I have finished playing The Descent for the first time just recently and I'm sure everyone else was just as amazed when they've beaten it as I was.
Whilst the Descent was a lot more lore-packed, the Jaws of Hakkon also had some interesting things in it.
I decided to write down my thoughts about implications of some of the events that took place in those DLCs. Obviously, there are spoilers for these two DLCs below. I have yet to play Tresspasser, so I would ask that if anyone comments spoilers for it, that you give a warning.
- 1 Spirits
- 2 Revenant
- 3 Magic in the
- 3.1 Gangue
- 4 Titans
- 4.1 Rock wraiths
- 4.2 Red Lyrium
- 4.3 Foreshadowing
- 4.4 Kal-Sharok
- 4.5 Caridin

Bioware has announced the closing of their forums. Unofficial sources state this also includes the Legacy Projects, but the Dragon Age Toolkit "should" remain available.
So I'm not really into the whole fanfiction scene, I just enjoy making my own stories, but I do have some experience in writing and I came up with an idea for a story that, at first, was a suggested game idea. While I was pitching my idea on the spot, my friend said "Why don't you just write your own fanfiction?"
I thought I would come to a place where DA fans tend to linger and ask would any of you be interested in reading the story? I'm going to write it either way I just wanted to ask if anyone thought that I should post it any where. I'm a little wary because I know that there are so many other fanfiction writers and I'm just started to poke the idea a little.
- Sure, I'd read it . Great place to post fanfictions is on ao3.org or on a pers…
I had beaten the game a third time, and this time with a Dwarf Noble Warrior, that died when killing the archdemon. So, that was the first time I had ever done that, and it was interesting to see what actually happened in the end. I have an Elf Rogue still...so I'll be posting him in another slideshow, just for him, since he's close to the end of the road.
I'm about to go kill the High Dragon in the Frostback Mountains to give Alistair some sick Wade Armor...
I originally posted this here, but I'm in a bit of lull of activity right now and thought it might be of interest over here. Essentially, a brief and somewhat shallow look at how Aveline is presented and how her character ties into her role in combat.
Aveline is a character I particularly love, and I don't know how shared a feeling that is. Oh, sure, when she's mentioned I usually see it positively, but often she seems overlooked in favour of all those crazies Hawke meets and also Varric. It's true that perhaps on paper, she's not initially that original of a character. She’s another woman who happens to be badass and be strong enough to batter doors down — intriguing from a certain feminist perspective, but ultimately kind of flat charact…
And Dorien, drawn close in the Fade by the calling of Lavellan, came quietly to her and he felt a great weight upon him. When he came to stop beside her, the place she'd conjured around her was one he did not know, he asked.
"What is this place?" And she answered him, uncaring of the tears down her face.
And as she wept the Fade was steeped in her sadness while she shook in subdued sobs. _ _ _ _ Saddest little thing I've ever written and it's so short... right in the feels.
An email I sent to an acquaintance who is writing a very wish-fullfilling fanfiction.I've tried to stray from speculations because, well that won't give me answers and I really do need them. lol. It would be a long read of information, but I'd be happy to give you what I believe might be going on in truth, minus wish fulfillment of coarse. In short, The blight is Andruil's fault (indirectly) and known Elvhish is what I've based it off. Andruil got bored of hunting men and choose to hunt the Forgotten Ones (creatures of disease, fear and malevolence) in the Void. Each time she traveled there she came back mad. She forged known armor and weapons (A spear with unbearable heat *I think it's that stupid red idol to be honest) from The Void to…
Some news: I must sadly announce that, after 17 years, today is my last day at BioWare. I'll miss my team, and wish everyone here the best. — David Gaider (@davidgaider) David Gaider's last day as a Writer at Bioware is today.
Gaider had been with BioWare since 1999, where he worked on franchises like Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Dragon Age.
Beyond story, he wrote some of the most memorable characters in BioWare games, including HK-47, Morrigan, Fenris, Cassandra Pentaghast, Carth Onasi and Alistair.
Gaider also wrote a number of Dragon Age-based novels and comics, and was a major influence on the plot and development of the Dragon Age franchise, including developing the breakout character of I…

Following the release of issue #1 in December, issue #2 hit the shelves today.
For the first time in any Dragon Age game, book, etc., we are getting our first look at the Tevinter Imperium. That alone is enough to excite hardcore fans.
Set in the capitol city of Minrathous, the Magekiller series follows Marius and Tessa - a former slave and a Navarran elite, respectively - as they found a mercenary group that specializes in hunting down and killing mages. As some may know, the Tevinter Imperium is run by a mage-controlled government, so things will probably get dicey for the protagonists before series ends.
As far as where the series fits in the overall timeline, Magekiller picks up just before the events of Dragon Age: Inq…
So, I posted something I felt was worthwhile on this Wikia and man, does it feel good to get it out. I have been researching Dragon Age history to unlock some hidden things. The lack of answers I had when I began is now crushing, but what I did scrap together has given me a lot to think about. Lyrium, The Fade, The Black city and Darkspawn. Archdemons, Titans and the taint. All so fascinating and consuming when you allow your brain to delve in like I just did for the last three days. 14 pages my friends, 14 pages for only important, canon and non-speculative history. That's just the surface. I found interesting facts, trails that lead me to staying up well beyond what I should have because my brain was unwilling to let it go, to shut down …

New Dragon Age from Bioware:
Before we hang our stockings by the chimney with care and settle down for a long winter's nap, we wanted to wish everyone the happiest of holidays. It's been an incredible year, and we're thrilled to have had you on this journey with us.
This holiday season is especially exciting because our friends at Dark Horse Comics have just launched Dragon Age: Magekiller #1, written by the amazing Greg Rucka. Magekiller will give readers a first look at Minrathous, the capital city of the Tevinter Imperium. If you've been itching for more Dragon Age lore, this new adventure in Thedas ought to satisfy your craving.
To celebrate its release, we've prepared a special holiday treat for you. For a limited tim…
"If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him". - Voltaire
I recently read a comment on another site, where one entity derided Corypheus for one line of dialogue from one of his final scenes "Bow before your new God and be spared." Initially I had some degree of sympathy for this position, such dialogue does suggest a certain degree of hammyness and vague aspirations of apotheosis are certainly a path many antagonists have trod before. But the more I think about it, the more I think that Corypheus' true value as an antagonist, and even that line of dialogue in particular is only clear if we understand corypheus as part of religion in Thedas, rather than the typical ego-complex induced attempt to attain divinity.
The problem is, …
BioWare have unveiled the GOTY edition for Dragon Age: Inquisition. It will be released on October 6, 2015 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One! It includes all story and gameplay content released: Jaws of Hakkon, The Descent and Trespasser and more.
Agents, not since the siege of Kirkwall has Thedas seen such an aggressive display of power from the mighty Qunari. Though we don’t yet know the true motive behind their assault, make no mistake about it: the Qunari pose a serious threat, and they’re here in Dragon Age: Inquisition multiplayer.
I've spent a lot of hours discussing with another Dragon Age nerd friend of mine what the various nations, and/or cultures in Thedas are analogous to the "real world," and I thought I'd share what conclusions to which I have arrived...
- FERELDAN - Fereldan, I feel, is very clearly an analogy to England. I think Gaider has even commented on this in the past. But for me, the nail in the coffin on this one was Alistair and Leliana's discussion of Fereldan cooking in DA:O. Alistar's recipe for Fereldan lamb stew is a textbook example of stereotypes of English food.
- ORLAIS - As my friend put it (I wish I had come up with this!): "Orlais is so French that you can practically smell stanky cheese and snails through the screen!"
From here, it gets les…

Trespasser, the final story DLC for Dragon Age: Inquisition has been released yesterday. (Apologies for the delay of this post)
It (seemingly) will finish up the story of The Inquisitor, or at least as an Playable character. The story will be set 2 years after Dragon Age: Inquisition's turbulous end, amidst scrutiny on the Inquisition by Ferelden, Orlais and the Andrastian Chantry while Qunari forces invade through the Eluvians..
Bioware has hinted that Solas makes an comeback as a character while you can utilise the crew you had at the end of Dragon Age: Inquisition (minus Solas).
It is released for the PC (on Origin), PS4 and Xbox One, and costs USD/EUR 14,99.
