Black bears are the most common type of bear encountered in Ferelden during the Fifth Blight.
Involvement[]
True to their bear nature, black bears are rarely seen, as they spend most of their time out of sight. However, they do become ferocious attackers when provoked, or forced out of their habitat by other means, such as the Blight and its darkspawn. Some black bears invade the village of Lothering, and the Warden may be asked to dispose of them, in order to ensure the villagers' and refugees' safety. The black bears can be summoned by a Ranger and Shapeshifters can transform into one. The Ranger's bear levels up with the character and thus makes for a great tanking ally, with high health and damage output.
Master Ignacio and Cesar keep a caged black bear in the Denerim Market District, assumingly for sale.
