Berserker is one of the specializations available for the warrior class in Dragon Age: Origins. It provides minor strength and health bonuses and four potential talents.

Talent Grid for Berserker

Berserk Berserk
Sustained
Upkeep: 20
Fatigue: 5%
Cooldown: 30s
The stench of blood and death drives the berserker into a willing fury, providing a bonus to damage. Rages incur a penalty to stamina regeneration, however, which Constraint reduces. Resilience adds a bonus to health regeneration in this mode.
Resilience Resilience
Passive
Requires: Level 8
The berserker can now focus the power of rage more effectively, gaining a bonus to health regeneration while Berserk is active, as well as a bonus to nature resistance that applies at all times.
Constraint Constraint
Passive
Requires: Level 10
The berserker has learned to retain control during rages, reducing Berserk's penalty to stamina regeneration.
Final Blow Final Blow
Activated
Range: Personal
Activation: 5
Cooldown: 60s
Requires: Level 12
All the berserker's stamina goes into a single swing. If the blow connects, the attack inflicts extra damage proportional to the amount of stamina lost.

Unlocking[]

Oghren will teach this specialization if his approval rating is high enough. Alternatively, there is a manual available from Gorim Saelac's initial stock in Denerim Market District for 11Gold 0Silver 0Bronze.

Strategy[]

Berserker talents are complemented well by those gained from the Templar specialization. Berserkers can easily fall victim to magical spells such as Vulnerability Hex, which require a large mental resistance to withstand. With the Mental Fortress ability, it is possible to shrug off many of these attacks. Add in Righteous Strike and Cleanse Area, and this specialization gives the Berserker a much better chance of dealing heavy damage to a mage.

Acquiring Reaver as a second specialization allows the Berserker to deal heavy damage while using the sustained Aura of Pain and Blood Frenzy talents, and then finish the attack, when their health has dropped to near-zero, with the potentially devastating Final Blow.

Pairs extremely well with Champion in a dual-wielding dexterity dagger build. The Defense stat is proportionally better the more you have, and Champion's Rally gives +10 to defense alongside War Cry's -10 to enemy attack to further boost the defense gained by dexterity, potentially ending in a character that is unhittable. The +8 damage per attack of Berserk is most impactful with a build that attacks fast.
