Beraht is a dwarven crime lord in Orzammar who has taken the Dwarf Commoner Warden and their sister, Rica, under his care in order to use them for his own ends.

Background

Beraht is the leader of the Dust Town Carta during the Dwarf Commoner Origin. He has taken Rica and her younger sibling under his wing, forcing Rica to become a noble hunter while her sibling does Beraht's dirty work.

Involvement

Dragon Age: Origins.

Beraht is the primary antagonist in the the Dwarf Commoner Origin. He tasks both the protagonist and Leske with dealing with a smuggler that's holding out on him. Once that is dealt with, Beraht tasks them with rigging a Glory Proving by drugging Mainar to secure victory for Everd.

Complications arise when our two hapless dusters find Everd profoundly inebriated and irretrievably horizontal, forcing the player character to disguise himself as Everd and take his place in the arena. Though "Everd" wins the matches, the duplicity is subsequently exposed, leading to a massive scandal. Beraht loses a hundred sovereigns on the bet, and sends Jarvia to rebuke Leske and our future Warden as they languish in prison.

The downtrodden duo escape their cells and soon confront Beraht in his chambers, slaying the crime-lord and (as Leske is not up for taking over, and Duncan intervenes in the fate of his partner) leaving Jarvia to pick up the pieces.

How Beraht is killed in a non-Commoner origin story is unclear, as the parallel-Commoner's corpse can be found, still locked up, next door to the now-thoroughly-demoralized Leske.
