Aurelian Pentaghast was a notoriously false Pentaghast who tried to claim the throne of Nevarra in the Blessed Age.
Background[]
Aurelian was the son of Gustav LaFleur, the minor Orlesian noble who had married Sotiria Pentaghast following her divorce from Emperor Etienne I in 7:97 Storm. While Aurelian had no Pentaghast blood at all, he was raised as one by Sotiria, whom he considered his mother.
When the time came to settle the succession in Nevarra, Aurelian made his own bid for the throne. He was a very pious man with strong beliefs in the Maker shaped by his Orlesian father's perspective and saw it as his duty to restore Nevarra to Chantry rule. When his lack of Pentaghast blood was revealed in 8:60 Blessed, Aurelian was disgraced and ousted from Nevarra.
Rather than live out the remaining of his days as a disgraced exile, Aurelian decided to join the dwarven Legion of the Dead, the only human ever recorded to do so.[2] Aurelian went into the Deep Roads as a dwarven hero, and though he was never seen again, pieces of his enchanted armor have been surfacing for decades. Some say that the pieces were scavenged off his body, while others claim that Aurelian secretly returned to the surface and has been selling them himself. Whatever the truth, the Legion of the Dead has remained faithful to their motto, "our secrets die with us," and Aurelian's true fate remains unknown.[3][4]
