Armor in Dragon Age: Inquisition is a protective covering used to prevent damage from being inflicted to the wearer. Armor mitigates physical damage; it does not make you harder to hit. In addition armor will not degrade.

Armor Crafting[]
Armor can now be crafted for the first time in the Dragon Age series. To do this the Inquisitor must find schematics accompanied by raw materials, and/or masterwork materials.
Schematics and materials can be received as a reward for quests, completed war table operations, looted from chests, dropped from enemies, or purchased from select merchants. In addition, raw and masterwork materials can be acquired from mining or by hunting wildlife in various locations throughout the game.
