After Arland was crowned, Sophia Dryden joined the Grey Wardens. She was well liked by the people, and eventually became Warden-Commander of Ferelden. Arland was an immoral, ruthless king, and the terror in Ferelden grew worse each year. Some of the banns asked Sophia Dryden for help, and she agreed. There was a siege at Soldier's Peak against Arland's soldiers for months until Dryden was killed and the Grey Wardens were driven out of Ferelden. Soldier's Peak has since been abandoned.

Duncan had promised Levi Dryden to help clear his name and figure out what really happened at Soldier's Peak. Levi Dryden asks The Warden for help clearing his family name, since Duncan died before he was ever able to. When the The Warden reaches Soldier's Peak with Levi Dryden, he and the party have "visions" of King Arland's soldiers battling with the Grey Wardens. These visions were due to the thin veil at Soldier's Peak.
