Background
One of the Triumvirate, the three pillars/leaders of the Qunari people, leader of the priests. The Qunari priests (Tamassrans) and by extent their leader the Ariqun, represent the soul, just as the Arishok represents the body and the Arigena represents the mind of the Qunari.
The Tamassrans raise all the children, give them their general education, and evaulate them. They also control the Qunari selective breeding program. The Tamassrans wield a huge amount of influence. It's also a female gender role (as all administrative tasks are) so The Ariqun is most likely a female Qunari too.
