The Aravel is a construct of the Dalish elves in which they live or store their possessions. As they lead nomadic lives, the aravels also serve as vehicles in order to travel overland. It is pulled by animals called halla, who are treated as honored companions. The clan Keepers use their magic to make it possible for the aravel to move through the forests. The humans refer to aravels as landships.
Background
Someone once told me that humans flee when they see the sails of our aravels flying above the tops of trees. I say, good, let them flee. The humans took everything from us—our homeland, our freedom, our immortality. What's a little fear compared to all the horrors inflicted upon us?
