The Aravel is a Dalish caravan.

Background

Aravels are used by the nomadic Dalish elves as mobile housing and storage. They are pulled by animals called halla, who are treated as honored companions. The clan Keepers use their magic to make it possible for the aravels to move through the forests.[1] Aravels consist of ornately carved wagons, adorned with bright and colorful silk hoods that look like sails, earning aravels the nickname "landships" by humans.

Because there are usually several or more aravels per Dalish clan, and because their bright sails make them easy to spot, most humans consider the aravels' approach a warning and flee the area. Dalish elves are not known to be friendly to outsiders, especially humans.[2]
