As the leader of his House, Anwer has the final say on any decision concerning his family. He has appointed his daughter, Lady Dace, as House Dace's deshyr in the Assembly and trusts her enough to handle the house's business in his stead during his absence. Anwer is also known to employ mercenaries during his Deep Roads expeditions. He has contacts with surface dwarf merchants, and uses his influence with them to reward allies.
Lord Anwer will be on an expedition in the Deep Roads when the Warden first arrives in Orzammar during the main plot line. Should the player choose to support Bhelen Aeducan as the new king, Vartag Gavorn will give the Warden two forged promissory notes which show Harrowmont promised House Dace and House Helmi the same land for their support. Upon revealing this to Anwer's daughter, Lady Dace, she will send the Warden to seek out her father in the Deep Roads, where he and his mercenary guards can be found being swarmed by deepstalkers in Aeducan Thaig.After saving him, the player can then show him the promissory notes, at which point Lord Anwer will assure the Warden that Bhelen has House Dace's vote in the Assembly. The Warden can also persuade Anwer to give him a personal reward, which results in a discount from Gorim in Denerim (requires at least one point in Coercion skill tree) or can also persuade him in changing his support to Prince Bhelen (requires Improved Coercion). This has an impact on the political influence that Bhelen will receive. Anwer will immediately return to Orzammar to authorize House Dace's change of allegiance and offers the Warden the opportunity to travel with him in safety, saving the player the trek back to a map exit.
