Antoine

Antoine is a Grey Warden from Orlais.

Background[]

Antoine was recruited into the Grey Wardens after a darkspawn attack left him with tainted blood. The other servants credited him for their survival, saying that he distracted the darkspawn. He'd been dying of the poison for days when Warden Evka Ivo found him and made him a Warden to save him. Antoine fights with a bow and alchemical concoctions.^[1]

Hunger
After recruiting Antoine into the Wardens, Evka Ivo was tasked with taking him to a quiet outpost. They'd been halfway there when they received summons to go to Weisshaupt.

On their way to the fortress, Evka and Antoine stumble on the supposedly cursed village of Eichweill in the Anderfels. The town has been suffering from a spate of disappearances. Mina Bauer, the sister of the latest victim, asks the Wardens for help. Antoine, who believes in the Order's heroism, accepts immediately.

The Wardens' investigation uncovers the truth: Renke, a noble's son who was ran out of town for poisoning a Chantry brother, starved in the woods and attracted a demon of Hunger. He turned into a werewolf and has been infecting villagers like Willem, Mina's brother, as payback. As killing the source of the curse is said to end it, Antoine and Evka hunt Renke down. Antoine is bitten before they kill the werewolf, but with the source of the curse dead, they continue on to Weisshaupt, believing Willem and Antoine cured, the village safe.

The demon has not been destroyed however, only banished, laying in wait for an opening from its victim.

Short Story: Won't Know When[]

After killing an ogre in a cave, Antoine and Evka reminisce about their previous close calls: killing several ogres to allow halla to return to their fields, stopping the spread of Blight sickness outside Kassel, fighting a demon in the Merdaine, and being bit by an unknown creature in Arlathan. Before more darkspawn arrive, Evka asks him to "ask her again." Turning his entire focus towards her, Antoine asks Evka to marry him. She says yes then kisses him.

Dragon Age: The Missing[]

Antoine and Evka are investigating the reports that a tall, dark figure has been abducting people from Marnas Pell into the Deep Roads, as well as the disappearance of the two Grey Wardens who were sent to investigate the matter ahead of them. While in the Deep Roads, Evka and Antoine meet Varric Tethras and Lace Harding, who have been searching for Solas and his secret hideout. The two pairs decide to join forces to accomplish their respective goals. Their search leads them to the corpses of Maesa and Shev, the two previous Grey Warden investigators, as well as the remains of the missing people. They are attacked by a pack of deepstalkers, then an ogre: the true culprit of the abductions. They defeat all the creatures, though Antoine is injured in the battle. While Evka tends to his wounds, Varric and Harding find Solas’ hideout, which point them in the direction of Vyrantium. They return to Antoine and Evka, who thank them and say that they owe the two dwarves their lives. As the group leaves the Deep Roads, Varric tells them that he'll settle for warm beds, hearty meals, and a stiff drink.
