“We have brought Andraste's light to the Dales. None can deny her truth. In time, all will open their hearts to the Maker.”

Amity was one of the Chantry's champions during the Exalted March of the Dales.

Background[]

Despite the fall of Halamshiral, capital of the elven kingdom, to Orlesian forces in 2:20 Glory, a group of elves refused to surrender and made their last stand in the region they called Dirthavaren, "the promise," which would later be known as the Exalted Plains. The Chantry sent their forces to meet them on the field, led by Sister Amity, Lord Demetrius Aron, and Ser Brandis of Lac Celestine. Armed with sword and bow, Amity led the Exalted March to the river Tenasir, where she struck down the shrines to the elven gods, singing the Chant of Light.[1][2]  Despite being vastly outnumbered, the elves refused to lay down their arms and met the human forces on the field, killing Lord Demetrius during their charge. The elves finally surrendered when the Emerald Knight Lindiranae was killed during her duel with Ser Brandis.

At the conclusion of the Exalted March of the Dales, Sister Amity gave a sermon that was immortalized through various sculptures that still stand in the Emerald Graves.[3]

After their victory during the Exalted March, Orlais took possession of the Dales. In 2:21 Glory, Sister Amity laid the foundation stones of the chantry in Ville Montevelan, the first human settlement in the Dales. She was put in charge of Ville Montevelan's chantry when construction was completed in 2:22, becoming Revered Mother Amity, a position she would keep for over forty years. After she passed away in her sleep in 2:64, her ashes were interred in the chantry's vault, where dozens of pilgrims still travel each year to pay their respects.[4]

Quotes[]

  • "Even Maferath the Betrayer had a part to play. Who are we to say elves do not?"[5]
  • "Elves were guilty of the greatest sin, of turning from the Maker. But we will show them mercy, for that is what Andraste teaches."[6]
