A Stranger Rift in the Ruins is a side quest in Dragon Age: Inquisition.
There's ancient magic at work in the Still Ruins that appears to be slowing time. A Fade rift appears frozen in place and whatever's keeping the magic at work is preventing the rift from closing.
Acquisition[]
The quest is acquired by nearing the frozen rift within the Still Ruins' Main Chamber.
Walkthrough[]
To disable the time magic, the Inquisitor must enter the Inner Sanctum of the ruins. The door can be unlocked with keystones, that are found during the quest The Heart of the Still Ruins. Taking the staff in the chamber will break the freeze of time, and the ruins will adjust to the present, with the Tevinter researchers and most of the demons faded away.
However, the rift is still open and now not frozen anymore, so new demons are crossing the Veil. The Inquisitor will have to fight through them on their way back to the Main Chamber to close the Fade rift.
- Rift level: 12 – 15

After closing the rift, the quest completes and the Inquisitor will obtain two sets of rewards, one for the rift and one for the quest; both are the same, see below.
On the way out, the Inquisitor can activate an Elven artifact; if Solas is in the active party he will slightly approve.
