A Slow Poison is a side quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

Acquisition[]

This quest is given by reading a note which spawns on a small table in the Lighthouse's library after completing Sea of Blood and The Smuggled Relic Case.

Walkthrough[]

When the Crows request their help, the team is drawn into the mystery of a traitor in Treviso.

Accept the Crows' contract[]

Speak with Teia and Viago at the Cantori Diamond. Teia is antsy on completing their contract for The Butcher, but Viago worries that outright killing him will only leave a void that can easily be filled, and they believe this might be taken by the person who aided The Butcher in seizing the city. Because this overlaps with Rook's goals of rooting out those who may be working with the gods, they request assistance with their plan to unveil the traitor. The pair ask Rook to seek out a scout, Dareth, who has been investigating the matter. Dareth should be accompanied by his cousin, Jacobus.

Help the Crow scout[]

Head to the Drowned District and enter the warehouse where the scout is. Upon entering, a group of Antaam attack while Jacobus yells out that they've killed Dareth. Take them out and free Jacobus from his imprisonment. Jacobus will plead for Rook to finish Dareth's contract.

Complete Dareth's contract[]

Search Dareth's body to find a note explaining how to find the dead-drop location. Follow a trail of crow marks throughout the city to find the location. Enter the building through a broken window on the second story and then read the contract that is placed on the wooden table. The contract is for the elimination of the Antaam's qamekmaster who makes deadly poisons, and the traitor who allowed the Antaam into the city if they are revealed. Leave the building and head to the garrison to find the qamekmaster, fighting through any Antaam soliders in your way. Sneak through the Antaam Garrison using the attic spaces of the building surrounding a courtyard where The Butcher is addressing a group of Antaam. While navigating through the building, one of the broken windows will lead out to a ledge that contains a chest.

The Qamekmaster

Reach the closed door at the end of the attic space, then open it to find a staircase leading down to the qamekmaster. Drop down into the main floor to begin the fight. The Qamekmaster is vulnerable to necrotic damage. Throughout the fight, the qamekmaster will drop poison onto the area which should be avoided. Once the fight is complete, destroy the pots of qamek throughout the room, then search the area for any additional clues. A note on the desk will reveal that someone has stolen a small portion of the qamek. Use the Storeroom Key looted off the qamekmaster's body to open a small adjoining room that contains a chest.

Consult with the Crows[]

Travel back to the Cantori Diamond to update Teia and Viago on the findings and completion of the contract. Upon arrival, Teia and Viago are talking with Governor Ivenci who demands the Crows stay out of the matter since them acting without oversight puts the rest of the city in danger.

Rewards[]

  • +750 XP
  • +250 Antivan Crows Strength
  • Codex Update
  • Increased bond with chosen companions
  • Contoured Skirmish Jacket (medium armor, given only if Rook has an Antivan Crows background)

Results[]

The city of Treviso has been occupied by rogue Qunari warriors called Antaam. The beleaguered Crows are one of the only groups still standing against the invaders, and could use some assistance.

An Antaam warlord known as "the Butcher" is heading the occupation in Treviso, and Teia and Viago suspect he had inside help conquering the city. They have asked the team to meet up with a Crow scout named Dareth, who's been investigating a possible lead on the traitor

Jacobus is desperate for someone to complete Dareth's job so his cousin's work doesn't go to waste. He's asked the team to find the contract Dareth was going to pick up at a Crow dead drop.

The Butcher has brought in a poisoner who makes qamek, a substance that can break someone's will. The team must stop this Qamekmaster in the garrison, before he unleashes his mind-bending concoctions on Treviso.

Teia and Viago's suspicions were correct: After the team defeated the Qamekmaster, they discovered a note about a traitor who helped the Butcher take over Treviso.

The Crows were vindicated when the team's investigation confirmed a traitor helped the Butcher to occupy Treviso. Troublingly, they also discovered that some qamek was stolen from the Butcher, the thief's identity a mystery. Teia and Viago began planning their next staps against the Antaam... though for Jacobus, Dareth's cousin, the occupation's cost is already too high.

  • The gods' involvement with the Antaam is confirmed.
  • The existence of a human traitor assisting the Antaam is confirmed.
  • Viago and Teia will send word when they uncover any suspicious activity.
  • Unlocks the quest Statuary, Fine Art, and Antaam, Part 1

Notable loot[]

This quest takes place in both the free-roaming areas of Treviso as well as the Antaam Garrison, which is a quest-specific area that cannot be revisited after this quest. The Antaam Garrison contains the following loot:

  • (Humorous) It's not unexpected. - Harding Approves
  • (Stoic) If it hurts the gods, I'm in. - Bellara Approves
