A Hunter's Trail is an action card in Dragon Age: The Last Court. It is part of The Applewoods deck.

Description[]

It's little more than a line of worn grass, snaking through the trees. You're not the first one to track a quarry through this part of the wood.

Available actions[]

1.

Follow the trail
You'll cover better ground.
Difficulty: Derring-Do*6/5

Success: In the footsteps of those who have gone before
The trail is recent, leading you towards rich hunting-grounds.
-1 Hour Remaining, +2 Closing In

Failure: Fruitless
The trail is perhaps too well-used. The creatures of the wood have learned to keep to less-travelled reaches.
-2 Hours Remaining

2.

Leave the trail. Cut through the trees
Wise beasts learn to avoid the trails. You'd do better taking the route less-travelled.
Difficulty: Woods-wise*2

Success: On the right track
You've barely left the trail when you find tracks in the mud. Fresh tracks.
-1 Hour Remaining, +3 Closing In

Success (alternate): On the right track
You search the forest until you find broken grass and trampled leaves. Something has passed this way recently.
-1 Hour Remaining, +3 Closing In

Failure: Fruitless
You wade through the undergrowth, looking for any sign of your quarry. But the forest hoards its secrets like a miser his silver. There are no signs of them.
-1 Hour Remaining, -10 Health or -2 Hours Remaining

3.

Follow the trail from the Deepwoods
(Requires Region: Deepwoods)
Return to gentler surroundings.
Leave the Deepwoods and enter the Greenwoods, where there is less risk and less reward.
Difficulty: Woods-wise*2

Success: Dappled sunlight and the distant scent of meadows
The trail carries you swiftly to lighter woodland, and you leave the tight-woven branches of the Deepwoods - and their writing, foot-catching roots - gladly behind.
You are entering the Greenwood, the pleasant outer reaches of the forest

Failure: A tangled path
The trail winds like an angry snake. It takes some time before the boughs above withdraw enough to let the sun push through.
The old folk of the marquisate are fond of saying that once the Deepwoods have you, they're loathe to let you go. Perhaps it's not wholly folly.
-1 Hour Remaining, You are entering the Greenwood, the pleasant outer reaches of the forest
