If you bring Shale with you on the quest to the Anvil of the Void, she will have a conversation with Caridin, and finds out she was a female dwarf.
Talk to Shale (in camp) about it and she will want to know more. She remembers the location of Cadash Thaig, and now you can travel there. Upon arriving, you see that it is infested with darkspawn. Where you see some plants growing, there will be a little cutscene with Shale. She asks you to investigate further.
After you defeat some darkspawn, you come across a really steep bridge. Cross it and you'll face an ogre alpha and some shrieks.
