DA4 could provide gamers with a choice that does not appear often in games. A chance to resolve a conflict, by extending a hand in friendship to Solas. But I can just as easily see gamers giving him the sword instead.
On one hand, he does have understandable, and from a certain point of view, admirable goals, and seemed to form a close friendship, if not romance with the Inquisitor, and did seem to regret turning on the Inquistor. On the other hand, he has been playing puppet master the whole time, doesn't care for anyone, save for the few remaining immortal members of his own kind, and despite Trespasser, I don't fully trust what Solas has said about the Pantheon. And why should I, when he's been playing puppet master the whole time? Either his memory is not telling him everything, or he's leaving out crucial detail.
I guess you could say he's like a Dragon Age MCU Thanos. After all, Thanos claimed that Titan died because of overpopulation, but Star Lord's scanners claimed it died because of a change in axis. So either Thanos was lying, or his memory lied to him. But in the end, Thanos was destroyed. And I suspect Solas will follow the same path. But I could be wrong.
What about you?
