I believe he wanted to fix his mistake but in his Awakening he wasn't strong enough which is why he gave the orb to coryphious and hopes it kills him.
Was the veil his mistake and he wanted to destroy the world to start again and get rid of the veil?
The Evanuris were Elven god kings and tyrants that were destroying the elven empire with their civil wars. Solas created the Veil to rob the Evanuris of their power and imprison them in the Fade, but in so doing took the magic from most and the immortality from all the elves. Now he believes that he destroyed his people and wants to tear down the Veil again to restore them. But doing so would likely result in a cataclysmic event that could destroy everyone who is not one of Solas' people, which most likely refers to ancient elves such as the ones at the Temple of Mythal only and not elves in general. He intended to use the Orb of Destruction and his plans got delayed when it broke, so now he intends to find another way.
@Warden Nuggins thanks for telling me. Hopefully they make a dragonage 4 so i can kill him
Well to my knowledge he made the barriers to the fade since he is the dread wolf. Most of this is my own interpretation but I think he woke and notice how the world was and tried to fix it with his orb but he wasn't at his full power yet and that's when coryphious arrived and took it.
^Um, most of that is established fact. Solas tells us that he didn't like the world right after he woke up and that he gave his orb to Cory because he was took weak to use it. The only part that's "your interpretation" is the thought that Solas tried to use the orb but couldn't.
Ty @Silver Warden I was doing my best to remember all the lore I've read which I don't have a good memory to begin with
^Oh, sorry. I thought you were being deliberately cheeky. I have a ridiculously good memory and I often forget (ironically) that most people's memories are worse than mine.
What do you think?
