Wasn't Cullen recruited (by Cassandra) before the Conclave? In that case, I would probably have them in templar attire. If I recall right, the Inquisition "eyeball armor" only appears after the prologue during the official declaration and the troops encountered during the prologue are (still?) wearing Ferelden-style armor, given all that leather and fur.
If Cullen was recruited before the Conclave along with other Templars it would've been even more important to dress them in Inquisition uniforms. To set them apart from the actual Templars.
Yes, that^. The Inquisition didn't exist yet when Cullen was first recruited by Cassandra.
It wasn't officially declared yet, but the forces were clearly already around and the plans to declare it already in motion.
^Well Cullen wears the same armor he wears in most of the game starting from the very first scene with him during the Wrath of Heaven. But that armor doesn't really have any markings on it. As for his forces, how would Cullen even know about the potential Inquisition before he met Cassandra?
He wouldn't. OP asked whether the Templars that were recruited from Kirkwall by Cassandra would still wear their Templar armour or Inquisition attire at the start of DAI. And since Cullen already has a new uniform, I don't see why the other Templars in the Inquisition wouldn't.
^Hm, maybe. And you don't get the chance to see them until after the scene where the Inquisition is formed. It would also be kinda odd for them to get new uniforms so quickly.
Perhaps the OPer could just avoid describing their uniforms altogether? Or describe them in such a way as to leave it ambiguous.
It might depend on the templar in question. Some of them might keep their official armor, whether out of pride or having nothing else. Some of them might set the hairy-eyeball plate aside and wear anonymous armor to avoid attention. Clearly, Cullen set his aside to help denote his separation from that life.
I think it is either their Templar Armor or something they could scrounge up. The Inquisition didn't become Active till the Conclave blew up and effectively failed (as per the Decree)
I think they would wear what they had in the journey. It was very chaotic after the death of Meredith. They’d get Inquisition equip upon arrival at Haven. Good luck!
What do you think?
