What’s up with the mages that are in your party like Solas and Anders and morrigan leaving your party at the end of the game and then you find out that they’re up to fuck shit.
Yeah, the "evil apostate" cliche gets a bit too common, even though Merrill is probably somewhat more "apostate" than Anders. Leads me to don my tinfoil hat again and wonder if there's some Chantry fanboy messing with Bioware's scripts.
Anyway, next game, I would want one of the obligatory "I distrust/hate magic" warrior types to be a traitor. This kind of warrior is a common trope since DA2 afterall, with all warrior party members since then qualifying for it.
Lol - I think I'm ready to look at all the Companions/Advisers/Contacts and simply ask, "Okay, what's your issue?" 😆
^ Both sides of Daddy/Parent issues are pretty much standard for Bioware. :P
Andrastian faith crisis is there in any DA game (Leliana, Anders - somewhat, Cassandra...), so I expect more of this as well. "Mages vs. Templars" debate probably less so, because Tevinter.
Honestly, the three mages mentioned; Solas, Morrigan, and Anders all were fairly straightforward. Morrigan gives you the deal and you can either take it or leave it. The only thing she asked is that you not search for her afterwards which, ironically, you can do if you do Witch Hunt. Anders, well, he never made any secret of his views and with his bonding with Justice, the Chantry and the Templars would have killed him immediately if they'd known just as they would have killed Wynne if they'd found out she was an "abomination", too. He just asks you not to ask what the alchemical components are for and alchemy, technically, isn't magic. Solas, well, according to the timeline, he's been awake for about a year or so. Putting up the Veil knocked him on his butt and he's been asleep through how many ages? Four? Five? Ancient thinking meets "modern" world. He never outright lies to you. Corypheus being able to taint-hop mucked up Solas' plans. Personally, I thought Trespasser should have been it's own full game rather than an expansion. It had great potential. Still, if the story is moving to the Tevinter Imperium, we should expect more focus on Mages, either as villains or as the underdogs (i.e. Dorian and co) trying to save their beloved country from the current controlling faction. The other loose end that has been hanging around since DA:O is Konner, Morrigan's son, the boy with the soul of an Old God. I have only played console versions, so I am unfamiliar with any other content than what was available for PS3/4 and I haven't read all the graphic novels either, so I only have game canon to go on. Not to mention, what happened with all the intelligent darkspawn from Awakening? When the 'head' is cut off, the rest flee but is that what happened there? What I did miss in between DA:O and DA:I was the possibility of different endings depending on your choices. It's not like you could have chosen to let Knight Commander Meredith or Corypheus go. I'd like the chance to convince Solas not to destroy the world by taking down the Veil. I'd also like the option of different origin stories again, too.
Vivienne, Merrill, Wynne, Dorian, and Bethany (assuming she lives) don't end up leaving for some fucked up reason though
^^Morrigan's son's name is Kieran
"Morrigan doesn't betray anyone." & "Anders doesn't betray Hawke"
True. Betrayal was the wrong word to use. What they actually did was deceive and manipulate the protagonists. Except for Solas, who really does flat out betray the Inquisitor.
Untrue. Morrigan lies to the Warden. She tells him that she doesn't know why Flemeth saved them.
"The mages don't tend to leave the hero more than the others"
Whataboutism. The topic of this thread isn't companions in general. It's about mage companions specifically. Shifting the blame doesn't make what those characters did any better.
That's not whataboutism.
I do not even blame anyone, I just pointed on: the mages don't leave the party more than the others, so: the base of the topic, is not justified.
^Mentioning it is whataboutism. There's no point in pointing it out. It's true but its beside the point. What the other characters do is not relevant, the topic is mage companions.
DAO: Alistair needs to do the do with Morrigan
DA2: Anders blows up the church and starts a revolt
DAI: Oh BTW I'm the elven trickster god and I'm planning to destroy the world
What do you think?
