Which NPCs in any of the games stood out to you? Major or minor, there are several worth mentioning, for voice acting awesomeness or character substance, even just good design.
Who are your favorites and who did the beat job in a non-playable role?

I like a lot of them! But off the top of my head:
Ser Bryant in Lothering, who doesn't care if you and your whole party are apostate blood mages because he just can't even right now, and there are darkspawn coming.
Bann Teagan, at least in DAO and DA2, because he's doing his best and trying to defend Redcliffe with honour and Isolde will never, ever let up. (Their bit in MotA where she's just hassling him is probably not fair to her, but you do feel for him. This isn't even his wife, but his sister-in-law!)
Ser Gilmore, if one doesn't get the mod to make him a companion and so remains an NPC.
Also, I always assumed the Bodhan Feddic, by DA2, was a spy for the Warden-Commander who was keeping an eye on Anders. I will stand by this.
Appart from what's been said, I would choose:
- Vincento. If you wanna know how a spanish person sounds in english, this is it. It's so funny for me to hear him, as I probably sound the same.
- Riordan. He's such a cool and nice guy. Appart from being a hero, that is. I would have loved to enjoy his company as a fellow warden.
- Seneschal Varel. A great man, fair and loyal.
- Rylen. He's that tipe of man that gives you a sense of trust and security.
- Flemeth. Omg this woman amazes me. I dont know why, I can't look away from her whenever she appears.
- Idunna. She has such beautiful eyes.
- Inquisitor Ameridan. Dude, he's simply awesome.
- Ellendra. I like how she talks about her templar lover, and about the war. Such a strong woman.
^^Ser Gilmore can become a temporary companion for exactly 1 quest even without a mod, so I don't think he counts as an NPC.
Flemeth cause she’s sooo cool
Kind of obscure, but can I bring up Lanaya? Interesting backstory, intelligent woman willing to change her preconceptions, and a strong leader who benefits her whole race.
There were a lot of great NPCs in this game. That's one of the reasons why I like it so much. From the villains like Howe to the helpers like Lanaya, there were a lot of incredible characters that I'm not sure if I could name them all without forgetting someone worth mentioning, especially since I'm still trying to get through ever version of the games.
Sandal is by FAR my favourite NPC with Flemeth coming in second they are just very intriguing to me and left me wanting to know more. Yuri Lowenthal does such a great job as Sandal!
I have several favorites:
Sandal is one of the best NPCs. You just can't help but love him and you just know there's more to him than meets the eye.
Flemeth is one of the strongest female characters in the series. She orchestrates a lot of things, has more depth than we think, and manages to keep one step ahead of everyone. Yet, when the time comes, she gives to her old friend without hesitation.
Cullen, of all the NPCs, he has seen the most character growth from his first appearance in DA:O as the Templar chosen to strike the fatal blow if you failed your Harrowing to his position as Commander of the Inquisition troops. A former addict, a former zealot, a former victim, he has come through and still remained strong in his faith and his desire to help people.
Keeper Marethari had a grace and a dignity befitting a queen. She had a love for her People that extended beyond her own life. And that's why I HATE Merrill with a passion. If I could kill her in the beginning of DA:O, I would, the selfish little twit.
The Arishok, he was just impressive, powerful, and strong with his purpose. He was a PITA to fight and between him and Knight Commander Meredith, I thought fighting him was more challenging. I liked how you could earn a certain amount of his respect.
As far as who did the best job in a NPC role, I would have to say Cullen and Flemeth. They drew you in with their portrayals of their characters, made you invested in them, gave them a life all their own.
^ I didn't expect to like Cullen in Inquisition as much as I did. I remembered him in DA:O, where he was quite reasonably traumatised, and then as just barely a force for reason in DA2 - sending him to Kirkwall after the Uldred's mess clearly didn't do his mental health any favours! He tried, but he was still very biased against the mages. Which, well, he's a Templar - but then I decided to play my first mage in Inquisition. I expected my Lavellan to clash with him, but they ended up married. He was so fervent by DA:I - about the Inquisition, yes, but also about becoming a better person. His cut scenes are really very good at showing someone who is struggling, but ultimately grounded in a very strong faith that keeps him striving. So yes - didn't expect it, but liked him a lot in the end.
Krem! I really wish you could romance him! His character was designed pretty well and the fact that he was trans stood out to me as well!
What do you think?
