@Steele-Wool I've done that every single time. I can never let the Chargers die, I like them WAY too much. I've romanced him as well as been as close a friend as I can without romancing him and still, he betrays me. :-( I'm doing another run through as the Tal Vashoth Inquisitor and that has given me several other options I haven't had before with other characters. I'm waiting to see what it's going to give me with The Iron Bull.
^^Technically, what Anders says is that "I believe I have a formula that can separate Justice and me." This has to be a lie, since he never had any intention to even try to do that.
This is a YouTube video which shows the quest in question (called "Justice"). The actual conversation occurs about 1 minute into the video.

^Are you saying that even if you save the Chargers he still betrays you? Because that should not happen. Doing so makes him Tal-Vashoth, which means that he doesn't answer to the Viddasala anymore. You might have encountered some kind of bug. Does the Keep say that the Chargers were saved?
That sounds like a bug, that should not be happening if you saved the Chargers ?
If you're on PC, perhaps there's a mod out there that patches bugs like that?
@Steele-Wool @Silver Warden He's been Tal Vashoth each time and this may be something exclusive to console then because that's the only version I've played.
^I play on console as well (PS3/PS4) and this hasn't happened to me. I have no idea what could have happened for you. ?
^^You're sure you actually did the quest? Because simply not doing it will also lead to his betrayal, even though the chargers are alive.
If you did the quest and saved the chargers, that's a bug. He should not betray you if he's Tal-Vashoth.
I’m in the minority but I say Varric only because to me he is infinitely less interesting than any new characters that come into the game and I don’t think Inquisition does as good a job with him as II did. Besides him, I would say Blackwall tho. The others are more interesting
I'm changing my vote to Blackwall....so boring!! I made a party with him, Viv, and Cole and there was almost zero banter. It was awful.
^That's because Blackwall hates Vivienne and doesn't know what to make of Cole. Put him with Dorian, Solas, Varric, Cassandra, and/or Iron Bull (basically anyone else) and the commentary can be quite interesting.
What do you think?
