The personality options are diplomatic, sarcastic, or aggressive.
Usually I play a diplomatic hawke with a few sarcastic quips thrown in.
This time im going an aggressive Hawke . Is just me or is this character psychotic. He's always talking about the smell of blood during his combat dialogue..
That's just my opinion though.
What personality type do you prefer?
Snarky-Hawke is the best.
The best part of humorous Hawke is the monologue after one the missions where you come out the chantry
^ Alone you have to be, I might add. :P
There's nothing better than having Hawke ramble around after putting down Petrice's mob, standing on a Glyph of Repulsion most of time and tossing green goo and Hemorrhages left and right. :D
Demon I don't even bother wasting blood magic on those fools. I make it rain fire
That said I usually prefer the snarky comments. Though I think aggressive hawke is growing on me . I guess im tired of always being the nice guy character
When i was a kid i always do diplomatic because i tought doing aggresive will do a bad ending and i hate bad endings. but when i try aggresive once i love aggresive more than the other 2 personalities....
for gender, for female i prefer aggresive / diplomatic while male i prefer aggresive / humorous
Blue Hawke, for me, was the tragic one. I like him least, he wanted to save everything, to compromise in everything and wanted to comply with everyone (the opportunist). At the end, he lost everything (faith, his friend, himself, what for he fought), but saved his brother... In my head their relationship ruined. (Perhaps, I should try another one, in a different path...)
Purple Hawke's not really always fun, and not really cheerful. Depends on the mix, he can be a funny, charming but nice guy, or a burned out sarcastic bastard, or a serious sociopath too. The sad clown. Probably my favourite, with red!Hawke.
Red Hawke can be the most trustworthy wo/man ever. Can't lie, and manipulate. His/her moral standards are high and cruelly honest. A true knight, a hero, but not the kind one (true, can be, if feels). Hothead but the best loyal friend ever. Or a cold-blooded killer psychopath – this one can be manipulative as well...
Or a mix of these – depending on your imagination.
I don't agree, that the three base personalities make Hawke less flexibile than the Warden or especially the lukewarm Inquisitor.
Hawke has the main personality, but you don't need to insist always to this (in fact, much better if you don't insist to Hawke's main colour always).
A nice man able to lose his patience, a jokester not always funny, and a quick-tempered, loud man can have soft, quiet moments.
Mixing these traits gives believable personality to Hawke.
And for example, in many times, the red answers pro-Templar, pro-Circle answers, but my every Hawke's pro-freedom. My red Hawke a radical, "no compromise" one, he would never agree with the necessity of the Circle. (he chose the blood magic especially because against the Templars.) If I would use always the red answers, he wouldn't consistent.
So no, I must mix the answers, if I want a consistent, living character.
And purple Hawke can be a charming, humorous guy, who sometimes hothead, but nice. And can be a burned out rude-sarcastic bastard. Or when the game begins, rather the first, but later more and more the second.
Red Hawke can be righteously angry, hot-head, but the most trustworthy person ever. And can be a cold-blooded psychopath...
Or as mine: a man with some anger-management problems, and with rude humour and social problems. But not that bad, as he seems and want to show himself. Can be surprisingly merciful.
He's probably my favourite now, with my purple/red reaver/berserker.
Both with Anders, and both are great with him.
I agree, that red!Hawke is pretty with Anders, but a pro-freedom red!Hawke is a real power couple! In friendship.
I detested that dialogue wheel and the moronic limitations it imposed on Hawke. Cutting up with friends should not lock away diplomatic options with other people. Courtesy with Important People should not prevent aggressive responses to dirtbags.
My Hawke was usually a fairly even blend of Blue Diplomacy and Purple Sarcasm with occasional Red Anger. It started as more Blue in the first act (as Hawke tried to get along) before sliding more towards Purple in the second act (as she began to grasp just how screwed-up Kirkwall was) and reached a little more Red in the third act (as she got fed up with the whole prefrontal whackadoodle that was Kirkwall). Generally, Blue and Red might have had a few more options but Purple had probably the best dialogue.
I'm doing red this time Caius . Because of what you said. The blue personality tries to be the diplomate in all things. For an example helping mages or Templars. Though never hardlining on either side. Always trying to find compromises between every idiot trying to burn down the city. Only lose his mind later on.
Example when Carver is kidnapped. The people behind it are dead. No amount of apologizing matters. Keran ,Alan, and any other mostly innocent characters. All burn in the fires of a destructive rage . That had been building for year.
The sarcastic one. This one is definitely the roguish personality. Similar to Isabella and varric this personality deflects with humor. Rather than actually dealing with and issue or trying to hide how they really feel
Red hawke is different- this one is no nonsense and no bullshit . This one is brutally honest to a fault. And makes no apologies for any hurt feelings or bruised egos. More likely to chose a hard line stance on whatever cause they fight for . Even if it's the wrong choice and will.end in disaster.
I try all three out and see what I like best between the three. I won't choose diplomatic if Hawke acts soft. I won't pick humorous if Hawke acts mean-spirited. I won't pick aggressive if Hawke acts like a murderous psychopath. I think the choices end being more snarky? But I'm not sure of the ratio between the three. They are all probably close to each other.
What do you think?
